Last week we visited the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Tate Modern. I wasn't tempted by the Damien Hirst bombast - Kusama's story of feminism, relocation from Japan to New York and back over the decades and her voluntary institutionalisation since the 1970s was so much more intriguing.
The exhibition culminated in Infinity Mirrored Room - Filled with the Brilliance of Life
a deceptively short corridor through a small room, lined with mirrors and filled with hanging led lights, reflecting off into the expansive black.
It was relaxing to just defocus my eyes and stare into the middle distance as the lights changed. (Also, just the tiniest bit Tron.)
I could have spent an hour in there
but I was worried it might short circuit the little dude's brain.
Instead we repaired to the gift shop to browse the best collection of children's books.
And reflect on St Pauls on the way home

wow, that's kind of beautiful. And migraine inducing. But beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you and the dude are pretty cute, all wrapped up in woollies.
It really was - and far more calm than the gif makes it appear. Definite change of pace from the boat full of phalluses at the start.
DeleteAnd thanks! Winter continues here...
