Winter is Coming

I should really have saved that title for after the solstice on 20 June, but I'm unashamedly Game of Thronesing and after three whole days (THREE WHOLE DAYS) of summer here, I am starting to feel a Starkian sense of foreboding. This long summer, it can't last.

obligatory sunny London shot.  deckchairs, serpentine, hyde park.
A combination of the sunshine and finally, finally (ohgodfinally) packing away the Medela pump, has me demob happy tonight.  It is almost enough to take away the stress of tomorrow's return to Sicily. I know, boohoo. But we are, to a man, bunged-up and Lemsip-swilling so I'm not terribly excited to take the poor wee dude on a flight.

It's been a pretty great week all in, mucous production notwithstanding. Wait, production (mucous dept.) is UP? This must be good for the economy. See: demob happy.

Lunch with friends in Brixton food market. This happened:

saving his enthusiasm for the real thing
We saw Avengers Assemble at the fancy cinema (sans G, avec Malbec) and the only downer was when I realised that of my two oh-so-hilarious Avengers jokes, one is Game of Thrones crossover (okay: Tony Stark? Then where's your Direwolf, Bro?) and the other is sadly UK specific (Agent Coulson: this was never going to work, unless they had something to...[dies] Me: Assemble? Something to assemble, right?) as it is just called The Avengers elsewhere. Hmm.

We also had a tasting of the caribbean food for the wedding in August. My parents were in town for it and had never had caribbean food before. They had been pretty skeptical about this aspect of our plans from the get-go, which troubled me far more than I feel like it should have and I was somewhat nervous.  But Laverne properly killed it.  SO good.  It turns out my Dad really likes oxtail stew and my Mum loves plantain.  And now they are on board I feel a lot more relaxed about everything. Eh, whatever, I do care what my parents think. Not enough to not do what we want, but enough to feel a little sad when they don't get it.

Mister G got himself the second of his teeth but isn't showy about it; preferring to showcase his tongue. Yeah.

all the cool kids wear grey and yellow. and drool.
As well as spending a lot of time together in the park, we picked a nursery for when I return to work and I got a clean bill of health at my first visit to the dentists in an embarrassingly long time.

BOOM.

    1. We are! In Oxford (where I grew up, in PA's old college) on the bank holiday Saturday between the Olympics and the Paralympics... which seemed like an awesome date choice at the time. I shouldve guessed that you beauties would have excellent taste in food as well as taking excellent pictures! And the PA refers to the half-Sicilian, Pierangelo - which I guess explains both the amount of Sicily and th otherwise inexplicable amount of hair on my child's head.

  3. Congratulations! On both the wedding and the marrying a half-Sicilian.

Might you share your recommendations for Caribbean food in London with me? If you're ever in Derby (I know, why would anyone be in Derby) there's an incongruously amazing Caribbean restaurant there.

    1. Derby: better than Wigan? (disclaim: I've never been to either.) I defer to PA below for suggestions.

      And thank you!

P I think you might have to start a side blog just with avengers/game of thrones cross over jokes, a song of ice and ironman, ( i don't think that even counts as a pun) the world's been waiting for this!!
