Card for a little sister in the final, grinding, stages prior to PhD thesis submission
I figure that there will be plenty of congratulations (including mine) forthcoming after it is finally done and dusted, but that a little moral support might be better applied in the (seemingly interminable I'm sure) home stretch.
Also, it reminded me of The Handmaid's Tale and
borrowed from said little sister's GCSE (I guess?) English reading list. First time I came across the phrase and my introduction to Margaret Atwood.
Even disregarding my healthy bias toward both feminism and dystopian visions of the future, I think this is a marvellous book for adolescents to study. Perhaps more so now than ever.
Atwood on The Handmaid's Tale, in the Guardian earlier this year.
